Challenge 4/Challenge 4 tracking and results: Unwavering Emotions

Well this is my final youtube camp-related deed as a 17 year old. Tomorrow is my birthday.

Ok so one of, if not the, best music from Generation 5 of Pokemon (IMO) is a track known as Unwavering Emotions. This track predominately appears with the Memory Link feature in Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, while you are seeing the memories of characters from Pokemon Black and White. It's just something about this piece of music that makes you feel certain emotions and think about past experiences.

I want you to listen to the music in this video (watching it isn't required). You are not required to listen to all 17 minutes of it but at least for 3 or 4 minutes (kind of like the length of an actual song). If you want to listen to it longer or multiple times, be my guest. I want you to write a short paragraph (4-8 sentences would be ideal) in response to listening to the music, anything you thought about or what you felt or anything. I want sincere, thoughtful answers. There's no right or wrong answer. Like any piece of art, one track of music can provoke several different reactions. Be honest with your response.

The team with the most participation and the most effort put into the challenge will win immunity. 2nd place will vote off 1 player and the two lowest ranking teams will each vote 2 players off. So if you've been slacking, you better get your act together.

3.Simisage-NegaSub(For me, the song begins as a sort of .. sad and remembrance of the past. The sad and quiet tone brings those feelings to the surface. Then the tempo builds up a bit, and the thoughts of happiness and friends build up and push everything away. As the tempo decreases they come back, but the tempo increases yet again and keeps them away. Eventually after enough conflict, the song acts as a calming, with no feelings of positives or negatives coming into action. I am a big Japanese music guy. To me this song relates to Rain - Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Opening 5. Its a depressing song but with an upbeat tempo. As a result the feelings balance out. It brings the calming factor that everyone needs. Another song to relate is Song of Healing - LOZ Majora's Mask. (I listen to the 10 hour version sometimes when I need a long time to relax, and just pause it when I stop. This song could easily be a good replacement for that song too. Once you get that balance you relax, and almost feel like you aren't even listening to music, and are just calm ...That is what makes it a fantastic song.)

4.Blitzle-kietgreen(Unwavering Emotions is just beautiful. A piece of wonderful music, which got me goose-bumps while listening too. I had flashbacks when I was little and growing up to where I am now. To be honest, I would have had tears, if I only didn't held them back. I remembered listening to this in Pokémon White 2 for the Unova Link and was always curious what the full version was like and what the name was. Thanks you for showing me this amazing piece of music and finally satisfying my curiosity for after several months since the game came out.)

8.Zoroark-firefang20(Although this is a newer song it Gives me nostalgia as it makes me feel about the first time I ever played Pokemon (yellow) and how I have followed and supported and played it through the years and how far it has come. Almost brings a tear to my eye. Pokemon really is nintendos biggest success and I feel like it is special to me as it was released on my year of birth, I have grew up with it.)

9.Emolga-NightBlastingSkitty(I loved the song, it reminds me of a sad Animal Crossing. I honestly think Nintendo is the best when it comes to music/soundtracks for games. Pokemon and Animal Crossing are perfect examples. Some songs give you nostalgia of old games. Some songs in games are just so powerful that they can make you feel emotions, like joy or sadness. This song makes me upset, but kind of in a good way. It's a sad song but very enjoyable to listen to.)

12.Braviary-PokemonFanKH2(Out of all the video game music I've listened to, this is the first one to make me cry. My thoughts about the song are that it starts off sad, but as it goes, it gets a little more happy, which in my eyes says "Things can only get better". And Honestly, this is the song I needed to hear, since I've been going through some hard times lately. So I thank you for having us listen to this song for the challenge.)

13.Heatmor-StepSoneful(I'm not exactly sure what emotion this song brings to me. It's not sadness, which is what I think most people feel. I would find it to be sadder if the piano were in the song alone. The melody kind of sounds like the end theme to a movie. Well, a movie with sort of a bittersweet ending. I was waiting for the song to go somewhere but it didn't... it kind of just repeated itself.)

14.Volcarona-wifishark8(The song here gives me hope. It's music shows that no matter how tough life can get, there's always hope. Its really great and its surprising its in a Pokemon game. Guess even the greatest music can come from the unlikely places)

2.Panpour-joshytje5(I actually really like this melody, it reminds me a lot of my favorite song which is "How Could This Happen To Me" by "Simple Plan" (well, actually it's tied for my favorite song but that's not important), I think the melody is really deep & dramatic, I've always had a thing for sad songs. when something bad happens in a TV show like someone dying or something like that, you could totally put this music under it. I think it's amazing.)

3.Sawk-shadowthehedgehog125(The first time I heard that song it made me feel depressed and also happy that the quality of music was good enough to make me emotional the only other pokemon song/moment that made me feel depressed is the ending song/ending from pokemon mystery dungeon blue rescue team when you have to leave your partner behind and he/she cries as you float away... :( )

5.Sandile-nintendofan204(I think that this is a really beautiful song, and just goes to show how good video game music is getting. It has gone from catchy chiptune music to having fully orchestrated soundtracks. Some people would think it's weird that I have over 100 video game songs on my phone, but if they played video games and experienced all the amazing gameplay and music in some of these games, they would understand why I love it so much. Not only does it remind of the amazing games you have played, but some of ti is extremely catchy or beautiful to listen to. This song gives me memories of playing through the original Black and White. It was only a couple of years ago, but my experience with that game is very important to me. I spent nearly 100 hours on that game, and I don't regret it. That game was fun as hell to play. The music, gameplay, story, characters, etc were all awesome. This song makes me want to continue playing Pokemon games (and other video games) until the day I die! :D)

6.Maractus-rocerdude404(This song kind of makes me sad. It's a really emotional kind of song and in reminds me of my great grandpas death last year. He was always so kind and generous. He'd give out money jut for getting A's on report cards. At Christmas time he bought gifts for everyone(And by everyone I mean EVERYONE). He was always in my heart and I really miss him now. But it makes me feel better by thinking about where he is now (; )

7.Scrafty-redfrog45(I agree with you that Unwavering Emotions makes you remember past experiences. But to be a bit more specific, I think it makes you remember more heartwarming memories, like when you got your starter for example, than memories like beating a gym for another example. Now if you will allow the music geek in me to be let loose for a bit, lets talk about the actual music instead of just the emotions it makes me feel. Out of the Pokemon music that I've really listened to, this song has the fewest instruments in it, with me only hearing a piano and I believe a cello. I think this works better for the song than if it had like a whole orchestra playing it. You're not distracted by the different instruments, you can just focus on the piano and what the song is trying to make you feel.)

8.Ducklett-shadowkirby10100(so I listened to the whole song and first I would like to say that the music sounded like it should be in an animal crossing game (if you know what game it is). it would probably be a song at night in animal crossing because it's slow and relaxing. the music sounds very relaxing like I said...I listened to 4 minutes of it (no joke) and that's all...)

9.Swanna-kevandkeith42120(This song seems to me to be very sad. The slow tempo and overall sound just give off a sad vibe. By a sad vibe I mean like heartfelt, teary eyed sad (more like bittersweet), not someone died or titanic sad. I think this song would be ideal for a heartfelt goodbye at the end of a movie or pokemon season (For example when Ash says goodbye to his friends). I really think the pictures are a little over dramatic for the overall feel of the song.)

11.Virizion-TheLazyRiku(When i hear this theme, i literally think about the previous stuff i did in the past. All the memories I've shared with people and how we used to do so many things. They just randomly disappeared and now they're not here anymore. Mainly i think about the good times in my life and missing that i wish i was in that period of time again. Your life is constantly changing. You meet new friends or new people in your life then they just leave eventually unless they're really close with you then you'll have them by your side. This theme just resembles for me as remembering the good times and missing that era of your life... )

13.Carracosta-CharmanderIsAwesome(When I listened to the music I felt both happy and sad. Whenever that music go's on in the game it's mostly something bad and it kind of makes me sad as well. But sometimes it's something good (Alder making Iris the Champion) and it makes me feel happy. Other times it's when the good guys voicing their opinion. The music is very relaxing and I always feel good when I hear it outside of the game.)

6.Lilligant-clilmama33830(Well... Maybe it's just because it's an extended version or something, but I found is SO repetitive. The same about 20 seconds of a line was repeated throughout, and I wasn't a huge fan of that repeating segment. I love the instrumentation. Mostly just a piano and flutes in the background. It still didn't win me over, though. It actually made me a bit tired. I think in a particularly somber scene this song could set the occasion, but in my opinion, there are better songs that could have been used for it.)

7.Cofagrigus-THEDKA3(The entire sound gives a nostalgic yet sad moment for those memories from the past. It seems like looking through the past about everything you have lost or loved. Probably one of the most depressing themes in the franchise.)

8.Cinccino-Bunpuffy(First I was sad because of the tone but when the tempo got faster I started thinking about my past and about the good and bad things I have done. I had regrets but also happy fellings about some great choices I have made. After those flashbacks, I remembered how some kids in my school were saying bad stuff about me and verbally bullying me. Then I thought of pokemon and how it helped me in me life, seriously, because of it I had something to love and cherish for the rest of my life. It helped me make friends in this pokemon-loving community and it even helped me learn new things because of the challenges that camps make. I would've never been here without it's help.)

9.Cubchoo-less4u2c(I don't fully get the sentiment that this is everyone's favorite Gen V song... with all of the great stuff that this generation produces (one of my personal favorites is the Castelia City theme and I love how the revamped the battle music), and how fitting a lot of the music is to whatever the theme is, this one just seems underwhelming to me. The song is supposed to inspire nostalgia, I think, but... I think it's pulling more toward sadness. Thinking about the past is a tough goal for a song, I think.)

1.Snivy-LolliPopGirlMeow(This song....This song just remind me about my whole history since I was born until now. You see, even I am from a reserved family I have no siblings. This songs always remind me ' Never think you have nobody with you, you have everyone, no matter on what situation your one, never give up on life.' Ever since I was 5, my dad mad and abused me with I accidently 'hack' his laptop just because it went blue screen and then I press random buttons on the keyboard, cause the laptop to spam many virus. After that happen, I tried to suicide myself many times, but that didn't work very well. When I was 7 - 12, I always get mocked everyone in school even when I was a kid. They mocked towards me and bullies me until I injured. No one dares to care at me during that situation, no one ever cares at that time. It's like having no siblings more like no one would care about you, no friends and also nobody would like you. That's all I write, just I can stop crying listening to this song. I can't stop thinking bad memories. I never had a good or best memories...)

This song digs deep into me, and I just can't believe that something this solemn is from a Pokémon game. The song is just the peak of emotion in Pokémon. That's how I feel about this song.)

8.Joltik-ShinyStoutland(Unwavering Emotions is an inspirational song. It makes you think of love that was lost, and gained. I have never used Memory Link before, I did not know it would have so much feeling to it. This song makes me want to cry. I love it.)

10.Ferrothorn-2319mi(To be honest with you, the music made me sad. From a trainers perspective, it could mean letting a pokemon you've bonded so well with free. To any other person, it could mean a death or a breakup or something like that. I actually almost started crying.)

11.Golurk-PoryfulZ(Hmm, the song was cool, I liked it. I did not really like it that much as some other Pokémon music like Cyrus' boss theme. Though I think that is was a song that Chuggaaconroy would have a nerdgasm over, if you watch him you know what I am talking about, since he frequently obsesses over the music. I think that it was one of the few sadder songs in Pokémon, because there is never really some horrible, tragic, sad, event in a Pokémon game.)

13.Durant-Woodenfan(Secondly, here's what I'm thinking while currently listening to the music: I hear loss. A definite loss, someone has lost something dear to them. A parent, a loved one, a pet, a Pokemon. But I can also hear a slight uplifting tune at the end, which can signify that things will get better with time. Overall, it's very melancholy, yet it has a slight waver of hope, as if it's trying to say, "no matter how bad things can get, don't lose hope. Things will get better, you just need to believe in yourself". It's a beautiful theme, and it's very moving.)
